The Sweet Requiem

India

The Sweet Requiem is a film by Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam, also founders and directors of the annual Dharamsala International Film Festival, India. The theme of this film mirrors experiences from the recent Past shared by many in the Tibetan exile community. This project also promotes the skills of filmmaking, acting and creativity amongst members of the Tibetan community.

"When a young, exile Tibetan woman unexpectedly sees a man from her past, long-suppressed memories of her traumatic escape across the Himalayas are reignited and she is propelled on an obsessive search for reconciliation and closure."

This film honours the collective memory of many viewers of Tibetan origin, whose vicissitudes reflect similar experiences made by refugees worldwide.
