At the end of Val Rovana (1400m) in Ticinio, Switzerland there are two little villages, Campo Vallemaggia and Cimalmotto. Thirty years ago there were a thousand inhabitants. Today there are about fifty. Recently, there has been a certain revival of interest in the area.
The Swiss filmmaker Peter Frei traces this renaissance by interviewing and accompanying a local farmer, a carpenter and four permanent residents as they set about their daily tasks. Thanks to the efforts of a descendent of the indigenous Pedrazzini family and his creation of a new hotel, visitors are being attracted to this forgotten paradise. The film is a portrayal of this beautiful and remote valley.
