Greenpeace Brazil: Fighting for Zero Deforestation

Amazon rainforest, Brazil

Almost 60% of the Amazon basin is situated in Brazil where Greenpeace is concentrating its efforts to protect the forest by monitoring fires and deforestation, defend biodiversity, fight against oil extraction and illegal mining, support the struggles of indigenous people and lobby for strong ecological protection laws together with other organisations.

Their work is of universal importance since the Amazon plays a central role in stabilising the global climate.
