Humanitarian Aid Rohingya

Nepal

Rohingya refugees fled Myanmar and settled in the Kathmandu Valley, which is relatively safe for them, though they remain undocumented and officially unrecognized by the Nepali Government. They have no resources to survive, with the UN providing minimal to no support given their unofficial status to date.

Thanks to the initiative of Roshi Joan Halifax, founder of Upaya Zen Center, Santa Fe, New Mexico USA a project was created to fund two Rohingya refugee camps in the  Kathmandu Valley since Spring 2017, providing material support, sanitation, and skills training.

Upaya has a very reliable Nepali team responsible for expediting this project. They have collaborated with Upaya since the Nepal earthquake in 2015, delivering services to earthquake victims, working in Dolpo delivering medical care, and for the Rohingya refugee project.
